Points to Remember – Sunday August 2, 2020
Make Friends with Life
We’re all aware of the term “survival of the fittest” which we’ve tended to associate with being the strongest, the toughest, the most aggressive. Yet modern scientists argue that overwhelming evidence proves it is instead “survival of the friendliest” from people working in cooperation that results in human progress and healthy evolution.
There’s a choice you have that’s more important than any other – the choice to make friends with Life. Life is intended to promote our learning and growth. When we come alive spiritually, we see that Life is rigged on our behalf and always working for us. We become a friend to Life as we embrace the Universe as a truly friendly place that delights in providing your Good to you.
A major part of this good comes about in relationships with the people around us. A powerful example of this is Jesus. His life and teachings were all about relationships. He liked to eat with friends, including those considered to be outcasts. He loved to enjoy himself and was always talking about relationships. Jesus taught and demonstrated how we might take our relationships to a higher level.
When Jesus was asked the most important commandment, he said “you are to love the Lord Your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And to love your neighbor as yourself.” When one reads the Bible carefully, you see he loved life, felt joy, and had a zest for living. Jesus was a friend of life.
Before you can be a friend to others, you must be a friend to yourself. And before you can be a friend to yourself, you must develop a friendship with God – meaning a friendship with Life.
When you choose to be friends with God (with Life), there is a whole new dimension to your relationship. The scope and intensity of your blessings will expand – and your relationship with the world around you will take on a splendor beyond what you have ever known.

At the end of the Services, on both Wednesdays and Sundays, the Zoom audio and video will be opened up to all who would like to connect with one another. As we do, it can feel a lot like when we interact in the Lobby after a Service. Know that, for those who choose, you can merely observe and not be seen or heard. We hope you will join us online this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (Zoom will be used after the main service on Sundays, for a time to connect and have a virtual “Coffee Hour.”)
